Title: Hydrodynamic Automatic Transmission

Abstract :The invention relates to a hydrodynamic transmission. The hydrodynamic transmission comprises two impellers constituting circular flat discs, on the front peripheral part of which radially directed vanes are securely mounted. A first impeller is rigidly connected to an input shaft. A second impeller and subsequent impellers, the diameter of each of which is greater than the diameter of the previous impeller, are mounted with their hubs on the hubs of the previous impellers so as to be able to freely rotate thereon. A device is mounted on the rear side of each disc for blocking said disc with a following impeller, and for blocking the last impeller with a turbine wheel. The turbine wheel is mounted on bearings on the input shaft and in the casing of a drive device and is connected to a reversing mechanism and to a running gear of a vehicle. The mass and dimension characteristics are reduced, the repairability is increased and the service life is extended, and the performance characteristics of an automatic transmission of a vehicle are enhanced.
